Hardware-in-the-Loop Implementation of Projectile Target Search Algorithm for Selective Harmonic Elimination in a 3-Phase Multilevel Converter

Multilevel converters (MLCs) are extensively used in medium- and high-power applications. Currently, MLCs also grid integration of renewable sources energy. In this paper a three-phase 11-level MLC topology is investigated which requires smaller number active switches compared to similar existing topologies for the same levels. order eliminate lower harmonics, selective harmonic elimination (SHE) pulse width modulation technique used. A projectile target search (PTS) algorithm solve nonlinear SHE equations determine optimum values switching angles 5 th , 7 11 13 harmonics from converter output voltage. The PTS finds best value different indices (M) these simulating eliminating harmonics. Total distortion (THD) analysis conducted optimization techniques at index. Simulation results verified by hardware-in-the-loop test proposed using Typhoon HIL-402 emulator.
